week two

It’s the end of week 2 and so far I haven’t fallen on my face. In fact I had my first test on Monday and I aced it. That was good. I wasn’t so sure how I was going to do. The test was in my Medical Terminology class, and I am having a hard time wrapping my head around all these terms and how they combine to make bigger wackier Latin/Greek words. Yeah, my year in Latin class in high school is not helping. But I somehow managed to absorb the information for the first test. I have another one next Monday.

Now I will tell you about my classes. On Monday & Wednesday I have Medical Terminology. It is going to be the roughest class for me. On Tuesday and Thursday I have Biology and Intro to Veterinary Technology. The best part is I like all of my teachers. I also like most of my classmates. When I went to Brown Institute I was the youngest in all of my classes by at least 4 years and I was the only one under the age of twenty. Now I am one of the few over 22. There are even kids that are STILL in high school taking post secondary classes. I should not be made to feel old at 30. I am getting use to the idea of being the granny, but still.

There is one chick though. For the life of us we can not understand WHY she is in the Vet Tech program. She has never owned an animal and this is the 3rd school she has been to. She had gone to one art school for a week but it wasn’t for her and then she went to MCTC for one term and it just wasn’t like structured enough for her. You add to that the fact that she is a talker. She is always talking about something. On Tuesday she brought in the cd cover for her FAVORITE band and basically gave us a presentation on why she liked the band and read the lyrics to us. The was in BIOLOGY class. HUH???? Then she did it again to the people around her in our Intro class. I don’t get it. Today we got to handle kittens, we s 45min presentation on how to restrain cats and the teacher said if you have never handled a cat and don’t know how to hold on to them to walk them in to class then let someone else do it so they don’t get loose and then we can practice. Chick was the first one in the cage room she opened the cage grabbed a cat and boom let it go. It took 3 of us 10 min to get the cat to come out from under the cages. Then she tried to pick it up BY THE HEAD!! Not by the scruff of the neck, by the head. That is when someone else took the cat and told chick she wouldn’t let her near a cat until we were back in the class and the teacher can watch her and walked the cat to the classroom. Me.. I just wanted to hit her. I am crossing my fingers she doesn’t make it at this school either
