The Story Of Coworker - Part 1

When I first started he seemed nice enough. We got along. Later I found out the first question he asked Manager after my interview was “is she single?”, now I could be flattered by that, but he is slimy. He enjoys telling me how cute he thinks the interns are and I always do my best to keep them out of our area so they don’t have to suffer from the rancid slime. I found out from other staff that before I got here there was a girl that worked here and was full on in love with Coworker. The Girl even let him move in with her when he needed a place and he used her, BIG TIME, once he decided she wasn’t good enough for him he started bringing girls to HER house. Now I feel for this girl, because I was that girl for YEARS. The “someday he’ll wise up and realize how much he REALLY needs me.” reasoning behind staying in something so dysfunctional. The Girl finally wised up and quit working here and moved out of state to go back to school. . In my first months The Girl would call once or twice a week to talk to him, I felt so bad I just wanted to tell her he wasn’t there and so not worth her time. The Girl finally stopped calling and last I heard she was dating a really cool guy.Now when The Girl left, Coworker needed a place to live, so to prove to The Girl as well as the people at work that he didn’t NEED her, he bought a house. This house is seventy-some years old and has all the issues a house that old and he could “afford” on what we make comes with. That is a whole lot of issues. But when I started he would regale me with stories about how great it is to be a home owner and that he had all these plans for his great old house, fine… whatever… I stopped listening. He has also had 2 back surgeries during his time at this workplace. One before I got here and one after. Leading up to the one while I was working here he kept getting bitchier and bitchier. He would come into work and tell me how much I sucked at my job, those were his words “you fucking suck at this job”. At that point I had reorganized the way our department ran, I was in charge of inventory (because it hurt his back to move tapes), I did all of the filing and I knew more about our database software then he did and I had only been there 3 months to his 6 years. He would verbally attack me at every turn when there was no one in the room to hear it. Twice while Manager was on vacation Coworker had screwed things up for me to the point where I had to fight to keep from just walking off the job and when I told Manager boss about the situations I had been put in and it was “let’s wait until Manager gets back,” That has NEVER helped me. Then Coworker had surgery and was out of the office for 2 months. The department had never run smoother, we had other departments comment on how well I was getting things done. Then he came back...

Ew. I can just sense the slimeball from here. That poor girl, and poor you too because you are still stuck with him at work. Maybe his new old house will fall on him.
